Financial Planning Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings consist of Presentations and Roundtable Discussions and are normally held in the Ruth Braman Room in the Penfield Library on 1985 Baird Road in Penfield, NY 14526 at 7:00 PM every Month from September thru May.

September 22 Program

"Evolution of Stop Investing Start Trading," with Ethan Welch, MD. At the  September 17, 2013 SIG meeting Ethan gave a presentation on the topic of "Stop Investing and Start Trading" which was well received by our members. We are very pleased to be able to bring him back for a sequel. At this meeting, Ethan will speak to us about the evolution for this approach and changes in technical analysis over the past 2 years. In addition, he will share his thoughts and perspectives on surviving in retirement when you don't know how long you will live, Ethan's bio follows: 
Ethan Welch is a retired vascular surgeon.  During his forty years of teaching and active practice, he also maintained an interest in investing, sailing and all things pertaining to the sea.  He has written numerous magazine articles on safety at sea and found Medical Sea Pak Company, dedicated to marine first-aid preparation and education.  In 1972 with three friends, he embarked on what was to become an annual sailing adventure, later to evolve into The La Trappe Creek Historical and Ecological Society which became the source of his 2008 published book "The La Trappe Creek Chronicles: A Log of Adventures ... Sailing with Friends." Dr. Welch graduated from Harvard University in 1953 and John Hopkins School of Medicine in 1957. He and his wife Janet live in Rochester, NY and summer in Maine.
