The Breakfast Club started in the summer of 1995 with 10 people in attendance. Since then the attendance has grown to 33 persons. We meet at 8:30 AM in the Hicks and McCarthy Restaurant at 23 South Main Street in Pittsford, NY 14534. The last Monday of the month is the usual meeting day, except for Memorial Day in May (therefore we meet the Monday before) and sometimes in December when the holidays interfere.For more info, call Jeff Fraser at (585) 482-3564
We discuss anything that pertains to the stock market -- economics, money managing, newsletters, Value-Line and people in the financial news. Some specific topics which have been discussed include: “Buffet’s Big Bet”, “What to do when your ETF goes RIP”, “The Bathtub Test”, and “The Alzheimer’s Eye Test”. Essentially, we try to learn something and at the same time have fun. Everyone has a chance to voice his/her opinion on anything related to the stock market.
Several members of the group will choose an article from some source and then make copies of it so we all can see what the person is discussing.
We have two hypothetical portfolios (stocks are picked by the attendees), which run for 12 months. One starts in January and one starts in July. The person who selects the stock with the highest percentage gain at the end of time period wins the prize of a free breakfast.
